On the 15th of February, Ivicke goes to court once again. This court case is an attempt to stop the municipality of Wassenaar from evicting us before the higher appeal. Winning this court case would mean that we get to keep our home a little longer and continue fighting the injustice inherent in the housing market!
After having lost an administrative law court case on the 20th of December 2021, Ivicke’s eviction date was set for the 31st of January 2022. Since we don’t live in accordance with the zoning plan of the building (officially the building has to be used as an office), the court of Den Haag decided that Ivicke must be evicted. The judge’s decision is based on the importance of the general interest in adhering to administrative regulations, outweighing our interest in living in Ivicke.
Needless to say, this verdict is bullshit. Which is why we want to appeal this decision. In order to be able to go into higher appeal, we need to win the upcoming court case!
The house has been under pressure for a long time, but it seems the end of Ivicke is getting closer and closer. Even though our struggles go beyond the court, we ask people to show solidarity with us in yet another attempt to defend squatting through legal means. So come by with banners, good spirit and some anger!
The court allows a public, but due to covid-19 measures not everybody will be able to attend the hearing; whatever.
